Job Description

This senior executive role reports to the CIO and is responsible for delivering solutions for Credit One Bank in a way that is attentive to cost, quality and speed. The successful candidate will contribute to the technical vision of solutions development and product delivery, as aligned with Credit One Bank’s strategic direction, growth objectives and values. This role requires experience building high performing teams, modernizing from older proprietary code sets, a good understanding of the waterfall SDLC process, broad software portfolio launch and release experience and crisis recovery experience. The candidate drives strategy, innovation, delivery and best practices for the Development department. This position requires strong, innovative and collaborative leadership skills. The candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to work with other leaders across multiple functional areas including Marketing, Risk Management, Product Management, and Operations. This individual must set the balance between technology strategies and organizational priorities. He/she will provide leadership by example, leveraging strong organizational, technical, process, and people management skills. Work with vendors, and with peers to develop and coordinate strategy, architecture, roadmap, budget, and execution of IT services.


  • Provide executive leadership to software engineering and product development initiatives with a focus on delivering high quality solutions quickly and profitably.
  • Adept at leveraging technical expertise to ensure the products and solutions being developed and delivered to serve the current and future needs of the business.
  • Contribute to the vision for the technology roadmap to be integrated across all business units and applications to keep the company innovative. Develop a point of view on key technical issues and articulate vision in ways that will be highly valued by the company and technology community.
  • Build a spirit of collaboration and cooperation within the Bank’s departments and across the enterprise and fully understand the product and solution needs. Work with marketing teams to ensure products are technically sound and commercially viable. Partner with product management and other stakeholders to drive planning of the product roadmap and release plans, and deliver on schedule.
  • Recruit, motivate, and develop a superior team of technology experts who can lead innovation efforts.
  • Champion a client experience model that delivers excellence, recognized by the industry as world class, and demonstrates high client satisfaction, sustained client retention, and expanded penetration of into the credit card market.
  • Be a change agent for new and innovative software engineering practices
  • Provide clear, consistent leadership, management and mentoring for your direct reports and the broader Engineering organization. Inspire, empower and motivate the organization, leading by example.
  • Employ a lean leadership style, one that focuses on developing skills and career path for team members.
  • Prepare activity and progress reports for development activities and provides status reports to senior management and the executive team as required or needed.
  • Responsible for building a high-performance organization to meet or exceed goals and to provide mission and purpose to individual contributors.
  • Provide direct input to policy level direction regarding standards, processes, metrics, long range plans and budgeting, and other policy items as required.
  • Ability to commit to road maps with capabilities and timelines, with a proven track record for timely, cost-effective and quality deliverables
  • Align technology to business strategy, and proactively drive a technical direction throughout the organization

Job Requirements

  • 15+ years’ progressive software engineering and technology management experience with a minimum of 5+ years in a Senior Executive role overseeing large scale IT budgets and initiatives.
  • 5+ years developing corporate policy and procedure.
  • Broad and deep technical experience developing enterprise software and systems. Preferably in the financial industry.
  • Proven track record of hiring, developing, retaining and upgrading technical talent with a keen focus on appropriately leveraging contract labor to supplement resource ramp needs (up or down).
  • Capable of helping push the boundaries of strategic opportunities, but disciplined enough to oversee day-to-day operational and performance needs.
  • Engage personally with both suppliers, buyers and other industry experts to improve knowledge base and better support the business. Provide support to commercial pursuits serving as the technology product expert in business development meetings.
  • Adept at building collaborative and productive relationships along all points of the product development process including marketing and product management within the business lines.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with proper focus on risk management
  • Ability to prioritize individual and team tasks and projects so that deadlines are met. Proven expertise in managing IT projects, budgets and vendors.
  • Executive presence, ability to interact with senior leaders and adapt style as needed for technical or non-technical audiences.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. Detail oriented, decisive and goal oriented to consistently exceed objectives Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience with software development methodologies.
  • Software Process Knowledge: Knowledge of end-to-end product life cycle as well as product operational cycle -conception to delivery to ongoing operations.
  • Software Programming: Understands concepts of source code control and how to use tools; translates the design specification into physical code; creates and assembles code modules from existing code repositories; has detailed knowledge of one or more programming languages; uses common development tools for required language, platform, database, middleware and environment.
  • Experience in the financial domain desirable.
