Position Summary

The Business System Engineer (BSE) requires strong documentation skills as well as creativity and technical understanding in order to put together a sound set of technical deliverables.


Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Contributes to project plans and technical architecture design.
  • When assigned to projects, the BSE fully understands project scope, objectives, and timelines and helps explain them to business staff and systems engineering staff.
  • Completes development work involving technical analysis, systems design, software development and system integration.
  • Maintenance work including technical problem resolution, and system documentation maintenance.
  • Acts as an individual contributor on a high level, a technical expert and a business systems provider.
  • Mentors less experienced personnel.
  • Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts in a specific discipline and will develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in a related technical discipline and 5 years equivalent experience.
  • Worked with Oracle RDBMS 9i, 10g and SQL Server 2000, 2005.
  • Excellent SQL development experience.
  • Strong PL/SQL experience (stored procedures, triggers).
  • Strong capacity and performance planning experience.
  • Database design experience including knowledge of data normalization, referential integrity, indexing and database sizing.
  • Experience with performance tuning high concurrency database applications.
  • Proficiency and experience with data loads and data loading strategies.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • ASP.NET, C#, ADO.NET (Preferred).
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) (Preferred).
