Position Summary

 The Risk Analyst II, Tableau Developer is a visualization expert that will contribute to development and maintenance of the bank’s Tableau enterprise reporting platform. The Risk Analyst II, Tableau Developer is also a subject matter expert who develops and provides project leadership to other data analysts and report developers. In this role you will work with various business users to gather requirements and transform them into reports and dashboards. This position requires a leader who possesses business knowledge and technical expertise related to their areas of responsibility. The position requires that you be skilled in systems functionality, project management and change management.

 Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for designing, developing and testing Tableau dashboards.
  • Responsible for research of source data and design of queries and/or ETL jobs that bring data into Tableau.
  • Contributes to and assists in defining best practices around dashboards development, testing, access management, and refresh scheduling.
  • Analyzes data contained in the corporate databases and identifies data integrity issues with existing and proposed systems and implements solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that projects are well documented.
  • Responsible for auditing and quality control to ensure that work meets quality standards.
  • Assists in troubleshooting of reporting and technical issues.
  • Performs user acceptance testing and enforces proper change control when implementing changes.
  • Anticipates issues based on knowledge of business trends and proposes direction and solutions.
  • Responsible for developing and managing the automation and maintenance of Risk based programs and processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Position Requirements 

  • BS/BA degree in a related technical discipline with 2-4 years of hands on experience with Tableau.
  • Extensive experience in designing & building data visualization solutions and complex dashboards with Tableau version 9.x or 10.x and deploying those visualizations to Tableau Server.
  • Strong understanding and usage of advanced Tableau features (e.g. LOD expressions, parameters, advanced calculated formulas, data blending, drill-down functionality, content and context filters, sets and groups, discrete and continuous data elements, actions, sheet swapping, etc.).
  • Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and Business Intelligence, including but not limited to cutting-edge software features and capabilities of Tableau version 9.x or 10.x.
  • Experience analyzing data from large and complex datasets (including geospatial and statistical data) and optimizing dashboards for large datasets.
  • Exposure to ETL tools and/or performing ETL processes.
  • Strong aptitude for enhancing and automating queries (advanced T-SQL) from various data sources such as relational databases (e.g. Oracle and SQL Server), data warehouse or flat files.
  • Experience in defining best practices around report development (e.g. corporate style template, custom color schemas), testing, access management, and report refresh scheduling.
  • Experience incorporating multiple data sources into the Tableau data model in support of the reporting.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and drive projects forward within team setting.
  • Must have well developed organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures.

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of stored procedures, SQL jobs, views, and complex jobs.
  • Experience creating ETLs using SSIS packages.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Microsoft Access, SSRS, SQL Server, Oracle, SharePoint, or SAS.
  • Experience developing and delivering Tableau training to other report developers and power users.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (VBA and Macros).
  • Prior experience in Banking or the  Financial Services industry.
